Mother and child health

Hey everyone!

We just finished up week ten of lectures learning about mother and child health and dehydration! It continues to blow my mind how many people are dying all over the world from causes that are just so preventable! It really breaks my heart, one thing that one of our teachers said was 'pregnancy is not an illness, but in these countries it is seen that way because so many woman die in child birth.' And a large amount of deaths during pregnancy and child birth could be prevented simply by basic nutrition through out the pregnancy.

'The their comes only to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come that you may have life and have it abundantly!' -Jesus
But it also gives me incredible hope that although there is a battle over these little ones life's , there is something that can be done, and even though it is heartbreaking, it is by no means hopeless! And this is what we are going to be doing in Nepal and Bangladesh, not only bringing physical life through education and healthcare but also bringing the life that comes from knowing Jesus! And I can't wait! I am just blown away by what an incredible opportunity this is to be Gods hands and feet!

Thankyou so much for all of your prayer and support I have defiantly be feeling it and it means so much to me!

God has answers for the worlds problems!

Hey everyone!
We just finished up week eight of lectures with an incredible woman Jannet Ditto, who helped start the Iphc back In Kona speak this week! I feel like I'm learning so much and I love it! Our focus these last two weeks was on malnourished children and skin diseases, and it was just such a reminder of how Jesus really is our only hope!

80% of the worlds healthcare needs can be met by simple health care- which is mostly stuff you and I already know! Which is so incredible because it means people just like you and me with no healthcare background can make such and impact on people's life's and communities!

Our outreach location still isn't confirmed yet, but I am so excited to go knowing that I can use the skills and information I have been learning to bring hope to those who are most in need, and to empower people through education to see their life's transformed!

Thankyou so much for your continued love and support throughout this whole journey!

'We have two hands- one to proclaim the gospel, and one to show the love of God through acts of mercy, through doing!' - Jannet Ditto

The value of hygiene

Hey everyone!

Just finished up week six of lectures, it has been a busy two weeks learning about unity and eyes and ears and nose and throat and doing some bake sales and car washes to fundraise for outreach on the weekend!
I have loved having teaching on unity, and God has really been highlighting to me how important it is to have unity with individuals and in teams, especially as we prepare and go on outreach!

And it's so encouraging learning about all these basic illnesses because although it is really devastating that people all over the world are dieing and getting seriously sick from them; they are almost all prevented by basic sanitation and hygiene such as hand washing which are things I so much take for granted but are so teachable! There is defiantly hope!

Thank you  so much for you love and prayers!

We are valued!

Hey everyone!

This week we were learning about target diseases which are diseases that are preventable by immunisations, but still millions and millions  of people die from them everyday! I loved learning about them, because even though they are really horrible and many of them don't have a cure or treatment, they are preventable! And it makes me so excited for outreach because it is something so small and simple that we can do that will have such an incredible impact and will save lives!

And I loved learning More about Gods heart and how each person no matter when're they live or who they are or how old they are, is soon soo valued! And how Gods heart yearns for them to know him and know that they are valued!

Thanks so much for your continued love, support and prayer!

'But your dead will live;
Their bodies will rise.
You who dwell in the dust,
Wake up and shout for joy.'

There is Hope!

Hey everyone!

Just finished up my third week of lectures, with a focus on HIV/AIDs and TB this week. It was so incredible to have Dr Sujai and his wife lavanya sharing not just the facts about these diseases but also Gods heart for them and the people affected.
The biggest thing I got out of it is that there is HOPE for those affected by HIV, and although there isn't yet a cure, you can extend their life by up 17+ years, which gives them a greater oppurtunity to not only come to know God but to be used by him to do incredible things for the kingdom of God!

There are countless story's they have told of HIV+ people who have been totally redeemed and given life by the clinic they run and by the love of God shown to them, for example a bible study of HIV+ women that has been started up and are now supporting a pastor in India.

And a boy who has been HIV+ since birth and is now 19 and studying at university thanks to proactive treatment and care!

Thank you for all your continued prayer and support! Feel free to message or Skype me anytime to find out more:)

God Bless!

*p.s. I am still trying to figure out how to post photos, but if you would like to check out some snaps there are a few on Facebook:)

Introduction to primary healthcare

Hey everyone!
So it's been a little while since I've done an update, but for those of you who don't know I am in Perth at the moment doing the Introduction to Primary HealthCare school that they run on the YWAM here.

I am in the second week of the three month lecture phase, where we are studying basic health care, so that we will be equipped to administer and train others in a developing nation for three months on the outreach phase of the school.

Already I feel like I have learnt so much, not only on the medical side; how to check vitals and what it indicates, different medical terminology( it is like a whole other language!)  etc, but also being really challenged to live out and apply more fully things that I already know, such as exerting self control in all areas of my life.

I would love it if you could partner with me in prayer for this time I am here; that I will be able to learn everything I can in my time here and that I will continue to be learning to trust in Gods strength rather than my own .

Going to PNG:)

We just finished up our last week of lectures! Last week we learnt about the bible, focusing on the book of Philemon, It was really cool how i learnt practical ways to study and apply the bible, and how it really is relevant today.
Then this week we learnt about missions, and what it means and looks like to diciple a nation. It was reallly cool looking at the diffrent sphears of society more indepth a bit, and it was really encourating as we are heading out.
On Tuesday early morning we are heading out to Papua New Gunie! We will be flying to port morsbey for a day then flying up to the highlands where we will be staying fro two weeks. Then me and half our team are going to go on the YWAM Medical ship for a little over two weeks, and then i'll spend the rest of the outreach in Port Morsby.
I'm really excited to be heading out an be able to put all the things i have been learning into practice.
Thankyou so much for all of your prayers and support:)
